Wood Flooring Care And Maintenance
Using timber as the floor of your house can add beauty and character to the entire place. It creates a rustic feel but at the same time, it adds elegance and class to an interior design. Wood flooring is hard-wearing and long-lasting as well. It is made to withstand weight and other demands of daily use. Wood floors, while fairly pricey, are considered a lifetime investment. If they are corrected kept up, they are expected to last for a long time. Instead of replacing the floors if they start to show age, you can just have them refinished.
Protecting Wood Flooring from Moisture
Raw wood is no match for moistness. Unfortunately for tropical countries like Singapore, humidity is a part of life. To keep moisture and dew from destroying the floor, the wood should have a penetrator varnish. It will prevent the water from seeping into the wood and keep marks caused by liquid spillages. Regular cleaning and upkeep should also be practiced. Keep in mind that while wood flooring needs less care than other materials, they are still not resistant to dirt and marks. Make sure to put a rug or a floor protector pad under all furniture, including the sofas, tables, and stands.
Maintaining timber Flooring
Don’t let dirt sit in overtime. Even if your wood flooring has a good sealer, a build-up of dirt can still ruin its finish or worse. Pointed objects, even high heels, can also damage an unprotected floor. If this happens, surface sanding should buff the punctured area, followed by a sealant application. Sweep the floor regularly with a broom and brush that has soft bristles. Don’t use wet mops as the water may just seep through the wood and worsen its condition. If there is a spill, use a soft, dry towel instead.
Dry vacuuming also works. Aside from being a good investment, wood flooring is also aesthetically superior to an interior design. It adds both worth and elegance to a structure. But although it is considered durable and tough, it still needs proper and frequent care to preserve its shine and beauty. Get quality timber flooring and laminate flooring for your home.
